This morning around 8am an earthquake has rocked California once again, by the San Francisco bay area.
"I was eating my breakfast when the room started rolling," said apartment resident Mike Beamer. "I dove under the table just as I heard an explosion outside and a chunk of cement flew through my kitchen window. That's when the screaming startedacross the street."
Beamer lived in the apartments across the street form McHenry's Auto Supply on Plum St, that collapsed killing two people injuring six others.
"Twenty-one fire personnel, 12 police and five American Red Cross workers responded to the building collapse," a public information officer, Jennifer Vu said. "With some arriving within four minutes of the quake."
Earthquake only lasting for around 30 seconds long, managed to cause a gas leak, and kill two people and injuring six others.
"Three of the six people injured were hurt seriously enough to require hospitalization and were transported to Hayward General Hospital," Vu said.
Hayward firefighters used ropes to stabilize the auto supply shop, conducting a search of the building and capped a gas line after detecting a gas leak at the site.
"This earthquake was defiantly a strong one," said a scientist Penny Gertz. "People as far south as Los Angeles and as far north as Redding felt the quake."
Parts of the other neighborhood was very rummaged, things were broken and falling apart, and the other three people were not seriously injured and went home within a day.
"I was injured at the Auto Supply store," says Erin Fletcher. "I just remember a beam going to crash down on me and smelling lots of gas."
Fletcher will only have to remain in a cast for six weeks and six weeks in physical therapy.
"My injury could have been way worse I know," Fletcher said. "But it's scary that something so out of your control has so much power over you."
