Candids: Being Unobtrusive You may want to make photographs of people going about their business—vendors in a market, a crowd at a sports event, the line at a theater. You don't want them to appear aware of the camera. Many times people will see you, then ignore you because they have to concentrate on what they are doing. You want the viewers of the image to feel that they are getting an unguarded, fly-on-the-wall glimpse into the scene. There are several ways to be unobtrusive. The first thing, of course, is to determine what you want to photograph. Perhaps you see a stall in a market that is particularly colorful, a park bench in a beautiful setting—whatever has attracted you. Find a place to sit or stand that gives you a good view of the scene, take up residence there, and wait for the elements to come together in a way that will make your image. If you're using a long lens and are some distance from your subject, it will probably be a while before the people in the s

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

A. What are some of the main points you read about in the website above regarding manipulating images? B. What is the philosophy of newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York times regarding image manipulation? C. What do you think are acceptable things you could do to an image and not cross the line unto an unethical manipulation? D. Post the manipulation (this means get that image and post it on your blog) that you think was the  most unethical , and explain why you think it was unethical. If you do not know what the word ethic or unethical means, look them up on the internet. It is very important you know what those two words mean. Please write at least 2-3 sentences explaining why you think it is so bad. E. Post the manipulation that you consider  the least  unethical, and explain why you think it is not as bad as others. Balance I chose this photo for balance, because it had three firefighters and  they were centered and making a geometric shape. 2017 Reflection

Image
I picked this first photo because I liked how both of them were protesting, and were from different religions or cultures. But they were both trying to prove the same thing, and looking for the same end goal. I liked this picture because it reminded me of Michael, someone I know who is recently went into the military this year. His mom Julie and my dad are close and so Julie and I talk a lot. I remember when she went to North Carolina to  I saw this photo and it stood out to me because it was a really good photo. Reading the caption did make me sad, because I took a better look at the building. Even though the building was destroyed, it was still standing. And I thought of it as an outlook. We've gone through a lot of problems this year, but we are still standing, and it doesn't mean we can't be rebuilt.
